MediCapture launches aiScope pilot at VMX 2026

MediCapture Inc., a global leader in medical imaging systems, has announced the launch of aiScope, software that runs Vision AI models in real time directly on MediCapture’s MTR and selected MVR imaging systems. The first pilot deployment will be in veterinary science.

The technology will be demonstrated live at VMX 2026 in Orlando, Florida, operating on MediCapture’s VUEES University Edition and portable VUEES Mobility platforms (Veterinary Ultrasound and Endoscopy Education Systems).

aiScope enables real-time object detection, image classification and AI-assisted video analysis directly on medically certified MediCapture MTR and MVR devices, eliminating the need for external PCs, GPUs or complex proprietary systems in the operating room or in the field.

“By embedding AI Vision at the point of care, aiScope solves the long-standing ‘last-mile problem’ that has prevented many research AI models from being used in real-world clinical and teaching environments,” said Bernd Jotzat, Senior Product Manager at MediCapture.

MediCapture MTRs and MVR equipped with aiScope turn surgical cameras into powerful vision data capture devices, analysing captured images in real time and automatically generating bounding boxes and labels. Future updates will add auto-annotation and pre-annotated exports, reducing manual review and labelling time.

The software is vendor-neutral, operating across endoscopic, microscopic and surgical camera systems, and supports open-source models for training, conversion, deployment and integration of community-developed Vision AI models.

The aiScope pilot launched on 15 January at VetExpo Europe in Leipzig, Germany, and will follow on 17 January at VMX 2026 in Orlando, running through the spring before extending to data collection programmes for veterinary universities and research centres for the remainder of 2026.

MediCapture’s MTR with aiScope is highly portable, fitting into a case the size of a carry-on. Using under 20 watts of power, it can operate for over eight hours on a standard power bank. Demonstrations of aiScope on VUEES Mobility will take place at VMX 2026.

“Veterinary medicine spans more than 65,000 vertebrate species. That’s where science begins and discovery accelerates. aiScope is portable, allowing us to bring AI-driven imaging to every corner of the earth,” said Michael Bishop, President and CEO of MediCapture.

aiScope will be available for university pilot participants in March 2026, with broader commercial availability on select MediCapture systems expected early this summer.
MediCapture Inc. designs and manufactures innovative imaging, recording and archiving solutions for medical use in surgery, endoscopy, ultrasound and clinical education.
